Why aren't the public votes visible after voting has ended?

Now that the public has decided and chosen their winner, could you please publish the results so we can ensure the process is transparent and fair?

    Hi again :)

I understand why you think the voting count should be public. It would allow people to see who is in the lead, and would tell submitters how much "catch up" they need to do in order to become the crowd favorite.

There was a time when we did actually show the voting count. We removed it a while ago though, and have since seen a dramatic reduction in voter fraud (attempts to cheat by submitters).

I do understand why you think the feature would be helpful, but we currently do not have plans to make the voting count public again. I hope you understand.

Hello Dani, please note that the public voting period is now over.

    Hi Riley,

Although the public voting has ended, the Atlassian team has not made any public announcements regarding the finalists in Berlin or any of the regional winners. Per the rules of the hackathon, public voting was not directly tied to becoming a finalist or regional winner. The Atlassian Team will review all eligible submissions based on the judging criteria to determine who will be moving on. The public voting was used to continue building excitement and momentum around the hackathon. The public votes were vetted by our team internally and shared with the Atlassian team to help influence their final decision.

I do want to assure you, your feedback had been noted and we will continue to discuss internally with our product team about any future changes.

So after the winner is chosen, will the public voting be disclosed?

" Atlassian team has not made any public announcements regarding the finalists in Berlin or any of the regional winners."

Hi Dani, Please notify atlassian team to notify potential finalists as soon as possible. It would be horrible if ANY team misses the opportunity to present in front of wonderful judges in berlin.

if they are notified via email, it will be huge relief if you can give updates in update section whenever regional/ potential finalist are notified. We worked very hard and this suspense is killing us!

    Hi Shivam,

I assure you we will be alerting finalists with plenty of time to travel to Berlin. The regional winners and finalists will be posted soon!

    Hello Dani,

I was following up on my last question. After the winner is chosen, will the public voting be disclosed?

    Hi Riley,

We typically do not make the public votes available after the hackathon, but I will speak with the organizers and let you know what we're able to share!

    Hello Dani,

As stated in the update, how will we know the "Popular Choice award winner" if the results are not public?

  • Manager   •   over 3 years ago

    Hi Riley,

Devpost vets the votes behind the scenes. We will share the Popular Choice winner vetted as having the highest eligible vote count with the regional winners and hackathon finalists. While the vote totals will not be made public, we will make an announcement regarding the project with the most eligible public votes.

The winners are very very underwhelming they don't even use directly or integrate with Atlassian, Jira, and Bitbucket I see more great projects than the current finalist... This hackathon was a bit disappointing but creating the projects are a joy...
